After graduating from UNC Greensboro in 2007 I packed everything I could fit into my Volkswagen Jetta and moved to NYC to begin my career as a fashion designer.
I accepted an internship at a showroom where I saw how challenging it would be to design and sell your own clothes. Next, I interned at kate spade where I worked alongside some amazing technical designers within their apparel division.
In 2008 Republic Clothing Group hired me as their Assistant Technical Designer. Over the next 8 years I grew from that role to an Associate Designer for Andrea Jovine.
I was offered a position at International Direct Group as their contemporary designer for Marrakech (sold through Anthropolgie) in 2016. It was there that I was able to design at will, testing out different washes and manipulating fabrics in ways that made them unique. Again I was given the opportunity to advance within the company, and was offered the role of Senior Designer. I managed a team in creating woven bottoms that were sold to Macy's, Dillard's, Stein Mart, and Sam's Club.
Eager to become more diverse as a womenswear designer, I applied and accepted a job in 2019 at ELO Sportswear as their Senior Designer for Zac & Rachel. Under this label I designed both tops and bottoms, cut & sew and woven. After almost a year at this company the pandemic hit and we were forced to cut our team in half. I stayed on throughout, learning to work remotely, and helped to proactively support our sales team.
After maternity leave in 2021, I was highly recommended by sales to return as the Senior Designer for Nicole Miller, an iconic brand whose rights ELO acquired during my time on leave. Since accepting this role I have helped to regrow a brand that many people may have forgotten, and have developed clothes that Nicole wears herself today.
